Meet the Team
We have an amazing team of engineers from all different disciplines and grade levels. Together, we bring all types of skills and experiences to the table and have the ability to make a real difference through the projects we work on. Our different backgrounds allow for a unique advantage, and we cannot wait to see the outcomes we produce!

Kalina Scarbrough

I am also minoring in Maintainability and Reliability. I am passionate about giving back to my community, and that is what this organization is all about. I have also been the Community Service Chair for Rotaract International, Secretary for IISE, Mentor and Ambassador in Society of Women Engineers, and Undergraduate Research Assistant. In my free time I love hang out with friends, going to the dog park with my rescue puppy, eating lots of food, and playing golf.

Michelle Claxton
Vice President
Junior, Biomedical Engineering
I chose my major because I like creating and witnessing innovations, especially in the medical field. I am the vice president of EWB this year, and I want to help grow this club along with the other cabinet members. Personally, I enjoy small get-togethers with friends where we hike, watch movies, or enjoy any other random activity we can think of. Professionally, I wish to pursue a Ph.D. focusing on pathology, biology, and biomedical engineering, so I can join the research community and create innovations of my own.
Darlene Filomena
Secretary
Junior, Biosystems Engineering
Outside of classes I am an undergrad researcher here at UTK, I am researching woody biomass logistics in the southeast United States. Some of my favorite things to do is organize things like my room or my computer, watching documentaries in Netflix especially about the royal families, and spending time with my dog.

I have bio-molecular concentration within chemical engineering. I have done a great amount of volunteer work at UT so with my current role, I’m willing to get more students involved with our fun community project as this is a great way for us to practice certain engineering skills to give back to the community. In addition, I’m passionate about cooking, especially with Vietnamese cuisine. I love sharing my Vietnamese food with my friends as part of showing them my culture
